Once Upon a Lime

Once Upon a Lime – Tip of the Day
If you get stuck – some call it “writer’s block” then take a break and do something complete different of a while and comeback to the story later. This can let your subconscious part of your mind get to work on the problem and it will throw the ideas forward when it’s ready!

Tip of the Day – Tip 3

Once Upon a Lime
Once Upon a Lime – Tip of the Day

Think, Write and then Edit.

- Think of your idea for the story. In 40 words there is probably only room for a single good idea.

- Write your 1st draft of the short story without thinking too much about the word limit.

- Edit out any words that you think don’t add much to the story or could be said in few words. The story must still make sense. Remember It’s only 40 words so make every word count!

No need to start with “Once Upon a time” and you don’t need to end with “the end”. Save words!

Once Upon a Lime

Once Upon a Lime – Tip of the Day
Create a strong beginning, middle and end to your story. Though with only 40 words a strong beginning and end will do!

Your story will probably need a character, an event and an outcome (good or bad).
